Rhythms of Relaxation: A Design Interaction

Duration: 2 weeks / Royal College of Art / 2008

Are you aware of the power of pseudo science? This project investigated believability of information and products available on the internet. It was the result of a wildly diverse research process; beginning with a cup of tea.

We set up our own interaction to test the power of pseudo science. People were ‘wired up’ to a vibrating pool of liquid said to vibrate at the frequency of their brain waves. Everyone believed in the interaction, convinced they were in control.

We hypothesised a real product and proposed a design interaction to bring awareness to the misuse of science to sell.
